Strep throat causes
The cause of strep throat is bacteria known as Streptococcus (strep) pyogenes, or group A beta-hemolytic streptococcus.

The bacteria are extremely contagious and can spread from one infected person to another through airborne droplets when the infected person sneezes or coughs. Additionally, the bacteria may be transmitted on kitchen utensils, bathroom objects at home, or on books and stationery at school.
Unlike sore throat strep throat is caused by bacteria, therefore it can be treated with antibiotics.
